Since 2016, one strand of Tuomas A. Laitinen’s artistic practice has been revolving around other-than-human minds, particularly through octopuses. Based on recorded cephalopod’s brain waves and skin patterning, Laitinen makes a hybrid series of artworks that engages with octopus dreams across video, ultra sonic speakers installation, an artist’s book and a music soundtrack. The goal is to investigate topics of ecology, mythologies and symbiotic coexistence.
